Description
This monoprinted artwork on paper was created in stages. Beginning with a monoprint using a pressed leaf sprig and then some loose pastel marks added on top suggestive of free and fluid energy. The last layer is a monoprinted illustration of a woman embodying a tree. Some of the small leaf shapes are shaded with green pencil and the crescent moon is gently filled in with white-grey pastel.
This illustration in this print was inspired by the tarot card I pulled at the studio that day; the Queen of Pentacles. She is a mother to the earth, a grounded and nurturing feminine energy I strongly identify with. I thought about how her strength is like that of a tree, unwavering and calm, and how when I imagine myself as a tree with roots growing into the ground from my toes, I feel balanced and strong.
This artwork would look stunning framed in a glass floating frame.
