This textural painting features Sky’s illustration of a pair of Flightless Dung Beetles. Dung beetles do a significant amount of work to help combat climate change. Several species of dung beetle are endangered because of factors such as lack of tree shade and poisoning from drugs in the dung of livestock. This is very bad news because they play a crucial role in supporting the environment. By living off dung they help to recycle waste, control parasites, disperse seeds, cycle nutrients in the soil and break down harmful gas emissions.
This painting has been created using a combination of mixed media including oil paint, acrylic paint, collage, pastel, graphite, copper leaf, and image transfers.
