Description
This monoprinted artwork on paper began as a loose and watery abstract painting incorporating pastel marks and smudges. Once dry the illustration of the pair of figures was monoprinted on top.
This illustration in this print was inspired by the tarot card the Two of Cups although it is also reminiscent of The Lovers. The Two of Cups is a card that means a lot to me and is about a perfect union, harmony or partnership between two people. I included the sun and moon to further represent the idea of balance and two strong energies working together in effortless harmony. The couple look longingly into each other’s eyes, holding a deep understanding of one another. The woman in the print holds a butterfly whilst her other arm embraces her partner. I included the butterfly to signify how delicate this balance is, it is something free and beautiful but must be appreciated and nurtured to be maintained.
This artwork would look stunning framed in a glass floating frame.
Please be aware the materials used may smudge if not handled carefully.
