Description
This experimental artwork on paper is a combination of abstract painting and a monoprint of a large fern leaf. Beginning with a loose, orange painted background on textured rag paper, the print was created using a pressed fern leaf collected on one of my daily nature walks and printing acrylic on top leaving behind a silhouette of the leaf. This technique is a new one that I’m still perfecting, so this is one of the first successes making it an extra special piece. The pastel hues that peep through the fern shape glow beautifully against the earthy textured brown of the print. The soft edges and rough texture of the rag paper add an extra organic touch to the piece and the colours have an especially soothing, autumnal feel.
Although photographed hung by a bulldog clip, Sky recommends framing behind glass to protect the artwork properly.
Please be aware the pastels used may smudge if not handled carefully.
