ABOUT SKY SIOUKI

Sky Siouki is an earth led artist who intuitively weaves together all of the elements of nature that speak to her. Her deep relationship with the forest and spiritual connection to earth, air, fire and water manifests in her creation of ethereal and dreamlike, abstract paintings.

“Like the Earth, my work is ever evolving and growing. It rarely stands still in one place, it flows, vibrates, connects and grounds. As I am a part of nature, my art is a part of me. I am captivated by the smallest details; a mauve shade of lichen or the intricate grooves of a wise old tree’s bark. I breathe in nature’s expanse absorbing the energy around me and suddenly I feel still again. As I let that feeling become me, I remember that I come from this land and it holds me here safe. The earth beneath my feet always there to catch me, hold me and nurture me. Without it I am entirely lost and so I devote myself to it.

From this place I paint. Finding myself in moving meditations, completely immersed in brushstrokes and mark making, allowing the movement of my body to echo onto the canvas. Upon a textured surface, ripples of dusky hues and layers of vibrance grow. Calling on my connection to the earth I find peace here, wholeness and a sense of feminine divinity. Intertwined with freeform shapes and wiggling lines, creatures of the wild and ghostly goddesses often dwell. Mystical and delicate they tell stories and invite serenity. Empowered and free, I connect body with soul, delving into the rich tenderness of expressing my inner being. Here I find hope by sharing my world and inviting others to linger in my vision of joy and peace.

Through my practice I discover where we belong in this world. Exploring the magic of rituals, figures caught in flow and the way we connect to the earth, I delve into this inner world of mine and how it is so intrinsically connected to nature’s roots and rhythms. Fascinated by how the seasons mirror moods, crows follow and fungi network, how better can nature’s intelligence be described than as magical? Filled with awe by every organic detail, I ritualistically hold my heart open to nature and gratefully receive every blessing of joy and wisdom it has to offer. Every beast and bird has a fable to share, every mossy tree centuries of growth to unfurl, and each elusive mushroom a spell to cast.”
