Spring News Update

Hello and Happy Easter! Just wanted to do a quick little Sky Siouki Spring news update on this wonderful Good Friday.

First up… I’ve recently gained a lovely new stockist in Bradford on Avon called Silver Street Studio! Looking forward to hopefully seeing some photos of my products in this gorgeous designer-maker based shop in Somerset soon. It’s looking like there may be even more Sky Siouki stockists in the pipeline for 2017 but we will have to wait and see for that… watch this space.

In other news, my new furnishing fabrics collection is now live online! You may have seen updates about this on it’s way on my Instagram feed but now the wait is over and you can officially order Sky Siouki design fabrics by the metre in either linen union or cotton velvet. They are very specialist luxury fabrics, digitally printed to order and aimed towards soft furnishings and upholstery. Choose linen for a subtler, rustic look and velvet for a more vibrant, decadent style! View all five designs here.

I have also been hard at work this week creating a new online shop which you should be able to see is now fully integrated into my website and blog. So you can now do a quick spot of reading in-between shopping all right here on the same page! You should be able to see a ‘cart’ link in the right of the top menu here as well as new features like creating your own Sky Siouki shop account and wishlist even! Have a little browse via the shop link above.

If you subscribe to my newsletter or follow my Instagram you may well have also heard the exciting news that I will be holding a stall at the Country Living Spring Fair pop-up market the week after next on Thursday 27th April! It’s crept up so fast and was such a surprise as I made the application a little while ago and the pop-up market is just a small specialist section especially for young businesses to try the event out for free. I’ll be there just for the one day so if you do visit make sure to come on the Thursday to see me! Not quite sure what to expect but very excited to be taking part so wish me luck! I’ll be sending out leaflets with a 35% off code for tickets with every Sky Siouki order in the run up to it.

I am making an effort to attend more events and markets throughout the year in general as well. I did the first Frome Independent of the year at the start of the month and it was a beautiful day with thousands of people on the streets of Frome! Here’s a little photo of my suitcase sale stand up on Catherine Hill. I’m booked in to do May, June and July as well, and hopefully more as the year goes on.

I also hope to begin selling at a few Tobacco Factory Sunday markets in Bristol soon. This isn’t one I’ve tried before so I shall have to see how it goes but it’s right on my doorstep so fingers crossed I may soon become a regular there too! To start with you can find Sky Siouki at Tobacco Factory on 28th May and 25th June!

That’s all of my news for now. Thank you very much for reading and continuing to support Sky Siouki and I hope to see some of you at my next event perhaps. X

TOP 5… Autumnal items your house needs!

I have to admit I don’t much enjoy the cold weather approaching when Autumn comes along but something I do love about the season is chunky knits and beautiful earthy colours. Nothing beats feeling cosy inside wrapping up with a hot cuppa when it’s all chilly and windy outside. So I’ve created a top five list of homewares in celebration of beautiful Autumnal colour and staying warm!

Jade Green Short Coffee Cup

1.  Jade Green Short Coffee Cup – Clearly you’re going to need a gorgeous mug like this hand-thrown terracotta one from Decorator’s Notebook for all those cups of hot cocoa. Absolutely love the aqua colour!

Globe Table Light

2. Globe Table Light – This stunning lamp from Holly’s House would fill any room with a lovely warm glow with it’s impressive orb like glass globe surrounding the lightbulb. Love the carved wooden base as well making the product feel natural and solid.

Mustard Yellow Digby Throw

3. Mustard Yellow Digby Throw – Nothing quite screams comfort like Lauren Aston‘s incredible super-sized knits. Knitted by hand using giant knitting needles this blanket is truly special and the merino wool in this stunning mustard yellow colour will surely keep you cosy on cold nights.

Grey Linen Bedding

4. Grey Linen Bedding – I’ve been allover linen bedding all year really if I’m honest but the soft natural feel brings extra comfort in the colder months and the faded natural colours available from Zara Home are absolutely perfect for that Autumn style.

Hand Tufted Trellis Rug

5. Hand-Tufted Trellis Rug – Alright, I know I probably feature Anthropologie in practically every TOP 5 feature but it’s just really really hard not to! This soft tufty rug with it’s gorgeous contrasts of ochre against navy and dusky pink is such a treat for the eyes and looks super comfy to roll about on to.

5 Exciting Twists on Fresh White Bedsheets

Spring is coming! I know it really doesn’t feel that way outside but I swear, it has to get here soon. I feel like giving my home a fresh update at the moment ready for the warmer months and so I’ve been drooling all over the thought of crisp new bedsheets. What with all the printed cushions and quirky home accessories I own I’ve found myself craving something unusually plain however… Which isn’t like me at all but it seems necessary to have some clean white bedsheets to balance out all the pattern and colour everywhere else. I couldn’t ever go full on plain white though because that’s clearly just way too boring so here is my little shortlist of favourite ways I’ve come across to have minimal white bedsheets with an exciting little twist.

1- Subtle Polka Dots

Probably my fave, I just can’t get enough of good ol’ polkas. Love the subtle use of them on these sheets in a pale neutral colour, organically dispersed and fairly small scale. Fun but classy polkas! These were from Urban Outfitters but I’m gutted they’re sold out. Closest I could find available to buy are these available in various colours from Australian brand Feliz. Check out Country Road too.

2- Pleated

Things just got way classy. Who needs patterns when you can have texture? I have to admit a few years ago I think I would have hated the thought of pleated white bedsheets but styled with some complimentary prints and bird themed wall art this example makes a killer contender. Check out West Elm for some beautiful textural choices like these available in other colours too. These seersucker sheets from Debenhams are also a great option at a very reasonable price.

3- Ethnic Borders

I love to mix in some cultural style influences in my home. This simplistic Indian inspired pattern works so well used minimally as a border instead of an allover print… and if you can find something embroidered even better. Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are the masters in this department, like these printed ones for example.

4- Pom Poms

Much like polka dots, pom poms are a great way to add fun to anything in danger of becoming dull. This is another theme Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie excel at… can you tell I’m a fan? But I did find these very nice and simple pom pom edged covers from Marks & Spencers which come in pink, blue or lilac. Or… you could even make your own à la this amazing tutorial! (Tassels are also great.)

5- Tonal Linen

Probably the most sophisticated of all. Linen and it’s beautiful organic feel will really make your bed look a million bucks. I think linen tends to look best in off whites and greys like this example to compliment it’s very natural aesthetic. The mix of tones here really is divine. Etsy shop, Linen Tales, from Lithuania has a stunning selection of shades on offer, or once again you could try West Elm or Anthropologie. Even H&M and Zara have some gorgeous options, clearly it’s a big trend right now.

Ok, now I’m seriously lost with which to choose. All of my money is about to be squandered on beautiful bedding. Hope you all enjoy these ideas and find the bedsheets of your dreams too. Sleep tight! x
