Northern Lapwing Placemat Second

This stone placemat is a second as it is not quite up to the usual Sky Siouki standards. It is still completely intact and functional, however the print is a little faint and the colours and definition not as rich as the full price version of this design.

The design features an original hand-drawn illustration of a northern lapwing printed onto a tumbled limestone tile and coated with a protective sealant. The placemat has a nice sturdy weight and a very natural feel about it making this product functional as well as beautiful. The tile would also work well as a trivet to protect kitchen work surfaces.

The stone tiles typically have an uneven texture with some holes and surface cracks present due to them being a natural product, therefore every tile will be slightly different. Read more about this in Sky Siouki’s T&Cs.

    Stunning tile; my treat!!

  2. Steph (verified owner)

I knew this was a second when I bought it, so the picture would be faded, but was not expecting so many chips and knicks in the actual stone itself as well. It’s still lovely, but I wish maybe I had bought the real version instead. Nevermind – was worth a try to see what it looked like!

Hi Steph, thank you for your feedback on this. I would just like to make it clear that these are not chips but are in fact natural craters present in the stone due to it being a natural material and have nothing to do with it being a second. Limestone typically has a granular texture although every tile varies. I do explain this in my T&Cs here under Handmade and Natural Products, however your comment has highlighted I ought to make this clearer so have now added it to all of my placemat listings. I hope you are not unhappy with the placemat and this helps to clear up any misunderstanding.
      Many Thanks, Sky
